Something has brought you here today.
Whatever it is — you are welcome.

"Your body can feel like your enemy. It has only ever been trying to keep you safe. Together, and at your own pace, we practice holding what hurts — so there is more room for the life you want to build."

— Dr Sari Harenwall

I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches — including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR — tailored to what you need, at a pace that feels right for you.

ABOUT ME

profile picture .jpeg

If you've found your way here, something has probably been weighing on you for a while. Maybe your body has been speaking loudly and nobody seems to have the full answer. Maybe you've been holding everything together on the outside at a cost to your own health and wellbeing.

I'm Dr Sari Harenwall, a consultant clinical psychologist based in York, currently offering therapy online — which means wherever you are in the UK, we can work together.

I do this work because I know something about suffering, loneliness, and what it feels like when your body lets you down. That knowledge sits at the heart of everything I offer.

My approach is rooted in neuroscience research, which shows us that the mind and body are not separate systems — whatever you experience in the body is real. Symptoms are an expression of all the bodily systems, including your brain, working together to keep you safe.

Drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR, we work together to build a different relationship with your inner experience — at a pace that feels safe, and in a way that makes more room for the life you want to live.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation — no commitment, no pressure. Just a conversation.

FREE MINDFULNESS DOWNLOADS

Peter Morgan established The Free Mindfulness Project after finding it difficult to track down mindfulness resources that could be freely used and distributed. He has been surprised by the level of interest from across the world and, spurred on by the kind words of those who have benefited from the resources provided, he is keen to continue to develop this project further.u can listen and download free mindfulness tracks such as mindfulness of the breath and the body scan.

I love this website, it has great resources such as mindfulness meditation (please try the befriending meditation, it's one of my favourites). There is also lots of helpful information about the evidence base for mindfulness such as improving quality of life and reducing anxiety and depression but don't take my word for it, try it for yourself!

“Can I take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to you for your time and expertise. Each session has been incredibly helpful and enabled me to lift from what felt like an unmanageable low in the beginning. I have really valued your professional knowledge and also greatly appreciated your approach to therapy which I felt I related well too, I remind myself of many of the metaphors. I will continue to apply each skill and hope to remain more stable than in previous years.”
